Punched Potatoes

Life

Spring has definitely arrived to Denmark. A friend of ours came to visit which meant a lot of walking and the obligatory visit to Halifax. In Copenhagen, when it starts to get warm, everyone goes outside and sit under the sun for any other purpose than to enjoy the nice weather. And after living here for a while I can understand why.

We went to Halifax the first day and on the second day we decided to show our friend another awesome restaurant. Cock’s & Cows it’s a burger place very much like Halifax. They have really good burgers in a relaxed ambiance.

Cocks & Cows is home to what is considered by some the best burger in Copenhagen. Its name - .

Two burgers, two slices of bacon, two slices of cheddar cheese, onions rings and salad. I like to think that Ron Sawnson would greatly enjoy it. It’s no meat tornado but it sure takes you a while to finish your plate.

I started by ordering one for me, but the waitress was like “You go girl!”. And then I rethought the whole thing and went with something a little more modest. Mine was called CheeseN’Smoke and it was really good as well. You can never go wrong with cheese and bacon.

If you’re ever in Copenhagen you should give it a try. It’s good stuff.

More like Friday I know. I have mentioned before that I have a Diana F+ (120mm) and that the husband has an Holga (35mm).

This means that occasionally we need to develop film. Yesterday was one of those days, hence the delay in this post.

When we moved here, we came across a great store called Photografica. If you ever need to develop film or buy a camera (new or used), in Copenhagen, this is the place to go.

You can develop your films for 50kr (about 7€) and they’ll deliver it to you in, what seems to me, a very professional package. The developed film comes in a plastic sleeve, that you can cut to your needs and keep for storage.

We then scan the negatives on our Epson V500 and voila:

Fun stuff.

I’ve been trying to find a word for what happened at our place last week but I don’t think that there’s an equivalent in english to petisco. A petisco is when you create a spread of food that can be cooked or not and that is usually eaten outside of traditional meal times. We started at 4pm. You slowly pick bits of this and that, along with your drink of choice. The food spread can be shellfish, or snails, or somethink like we had.

My parents in law sent us a package of cheese, sausages and ham from Portugal. We added portuguese wine and rustic italian bread (the closest we could find to portuguese bread) to the mixture and it was divine. I hope the photos are convincing enough.

Assortment of cheese, ham, paio and bread.
